Congratulations to Canadian Composer & Singer Loreena McKennitt

Canadian Forces Morale and Welfare Services congratulates Loreena McKennitt – acclaimed Canadian composer and singer, and Honorary Colonel of the Royal Canadian Air Force – on the recent release of her new album, Lost Souls.

“We are honoured to have Ms. McKennitt’s single, Breaking of the Sword, released for Remembrance Day in 2017, included in her album”, said Commodore Sean Cantelon.

Breaking of the Sword was inspired during her participation at the Canadian National Vimy Memorial in France, for the 100th anniversary of the historic Battle of Vimy Ridge. The song’s title is borrowed from a group of figures on the monument known as the Breaking of the Sword, one of two groups of figures collectively called the Defenders. The single was recorded with the Ottawa-based Central Band of the Canadian Armed Forces and the 90-voice Stratford Concert Choir located in McKennitt’s home base of Stratford, representing the military family and Canadian communities.

Commodore Cantelon expressed his gratitude to Ms. McKennitt for donating the proceeds from digital sales of Breaking of the Sword in Canada to the Support Our Troops Fund, which provides financial support and assistance to members of the Canadian Armed Forces, veterans, and their respective families.

The album is available as a CD, 180-gram vinyl record, and through all music services, including iTunes, Apple Music and Spotify. https://loreenamckennitt.com/
