Education Assistance Loan Program (EALP)

The Ontario government has recently announced changes to the Ontario Student Assistance Program (OSAP), which will make it more difficult for families to obtain educational support. There has also been recent changes to the Canadian Armed Forces Regular Force Education Program, which could decrease the level of support a member can access.

Support Our Troops provides financial support through the Education Assistance Loan Program (EALP). The objective of the EALP is to:
  • assist spouses who may need to complete recertification courses, supplementary courses and/or training to increase opportunities for employment; and
  • assist serving members, former members and their dependants (spouses and children) who may not qualify under the Bank of Montreal Student Line of Credit program in obtaining post-secondary education and/or training.

Ill and injured members who are releasing medically can access the CAF LTD Vocational Rehabilitation Program (VRP) for educational funding up to 6 months prior to release, and advice and support up to 3 years before release.
