Soldier On program receives $50,000 from The Regina Pats Community Foundation
June 27, 2018 (Ottawa) – The Soldier On is honoured to be the recipient of a $50,000 donation from The Regina Pats Community Foundation.
The Foundation has raised $100,000 through 50/50 sales at the 100th Mastercard Memorial Cup, which will be shared between two recipients, KidSport and the Soldier On program. The Regina Pats hosted the 100th Memorial Cup championship in Regina in May.
“Soldier On is humbled by this generous support from the Regina Pats Community Foundation,” says Jay Feyko, Manager of Soldier On. “Amplifying the rich military history of the Memorial Cup and the Regina Pats, this incredible donation is a testament of continued support to those men and women who have received an illness or injury while in service to Canada.
“It also serves as an inspiration and an illustration that those who have sacrificed need not recover alone.”
The Regina Pats Community Foundation was created in June 2017. Its vision is to give children and youth in Regina and area the chance to succeed. The Foundation supports health, wellness, education and sport for youth, and also funds a scholarship program for alumni and current players of the Regina Pats.
The Soldier On is a program committed to supporting veterans and serving members to adapt and overcome permanent physical or mental health injuries through physical activity and sport. The program is recognized for improving the quality of life of the ill and injured. The Soldier On Fund exists under the umbrella of Support Our Troops, an official qualified donee of Her Majesty in right of Canada for the Canadian Armed Forces community; managed and operated by Canadian Forces Morale and Welfare Services.
