National Child and Youth Disability Reimbursement Program

Financial support for school-aged children and youth with disabilities to access their education curriculum.

The Support Our Troops National Child and Youth Disability Reimbursement Program provides financial reimbursement (up to a total of $2,500 per applicant per fiscal year) for assessments/therapies and/or equipment to assist dependent school-aged children with disabilities access their education. 

This program is entirely funded by charitable donations, submissions are accepted only while funding is available.

The program provides a one-time reimbursement per category of support per child per fiscal year: 

  • Assessments/therapies, up to a maximum of $1,500, not already covered by insurance; and/or 

  • Equipment, up to a maximum of $1,000, not already covered by insurance.

Currently serving Regular and Reserve Force CAF members with dependent school-aged children with disabilities who require accommodations to access their education. 
 
Dependent school-aged children must be enrolled in an accredited elementary or secondary school or following a homeschool program. 
 
Additional populations will be considered on a case-by-case basis. 

Reimbursement requests will be accepted within designated application windows until available funds are exhausted.  

Submissions must include:  

  • A current copy of the member’s Member Personnel Record Resume; and 

  • Documentation to validate the required assessments/ therapies and/or equipment. Support Our Troops will only provide reimbursement for disability-related expenses validated by qualified professional. 

You may submit:  

  • One reimbursement request for assessments/therapies per child per fiscal year: (up to $1,500), and  

  • One reimbursement request for equipment per child per fiscal year: (up to $1,000)  

Application Window 1: 15 June 2026 - 3 July 2026 

Application Window 2: 15 October 2026 - 5 November 2026 

Application Window 3: 15 February 2027 - 5 March 2027 

Each application window accepts receipts dated at any time during the fiscal year, starting 1 April 2026. You may submit assessment/therapy receipts in one application window and equipment receipts in a different application window. 

Exclusions: 

  • Camps, respite care, tutoring services, life sustaining medical services, medical travel expenses  

  • Warranties, repair/replacement packages, cellular devices, accessories (such as cases, screen protectors and equipment covers), life sustaining medical equipment/prescriptions 

No exchange rates will be paid above or beyond the program’s maximum reimbursement.
