Tutoring Program

Financial support for CAF families designed to reimburse costs for tutoring services in curriculum subjects.

Due to the unique circumstances of military life, transitions between curricula and interruptions to education continuity are significant barriers for school-aged learners in Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) families.

The Support Our Troops National Tutoring Reimbursement Program provides financial reimbursement (up to a total of $1,500) for tutoring services delivered to dependent school-aged children of currently serving Regular and Reserve Forces CAF members to ease education challenges related to the mobile military lifestyle and the impact of disruption to dependent children’s education continuum.

 This program is entirely funded by charitable donations; applications are accepted only while funding is available

Reimbursement requests will be accepted within designated application windows or until the maximum funding amount for the application window is reached, whichever comes first.

The program provides a one-time reimbursement for tutoring services of up to $1,500 per eligible child per fiscal year.

Currently serving Regular and Reserve Force CAF members with dependent school-aged children with learning disabilities, physical disabilities or illness, children with an Individual Education Plan and for those whose circumstances require tutoring support as recommended by their school are eligible to apply.

The program supports dependent children in CAF families, from kindergarten to grade 12/Sec V.

Dependent school-aged children must be enrolled in an accredited elementary or secondary school or following a homeschool program.

Applications from additional populations will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

There is no pre‑approval process; all required validating documents, paid invoices and receipts must be submitted together in the Request for Reimbursement Form.

Reimbursement requests will be accepted within designated application windows until available funds are exhausted.

Applications must include:
  • A current copy of member’s Member Personnel Record Resume (MPRR);
  • A current copy of dependent child/ren’s IEP or in special circumstances a Letter of Support from a school official at dependent child/ren’s current school or qualified professional;
  • A copy of dependent child/ren’s two (2) most recent report cards; and
