Basic Needs Grant
Providing immediate relief for basic needs to members and their families while connecting them with additional support.
Support Our Troops recognizes now more than ever that Canadian Forces members and their families may at times require financial support for basic needs.
The Basic Needs Grant Program will provide modest financial assistance to CAF members and their families requiring immediate relief for basic needs while obtaining more sustainable solutions from other supports and/or programs.
The Basic Needs Grant is a modest gift card grant program specifically for the purchase of groceries, fuel, medication and health supplies such as hygiene products, diapers, etc.
Eligible applicants can apply to receive the following grant assistance: up to $100 through the local Chaplain.
Serving Regular and Reserve Force Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) members and family members as reflected on the member’s MPRR
Eligible applicants are to contact their local Chaplain to apply.
Through the Chaplain:
A JotForm link will be sent for completion and submission of the Basic Needs Grant Application.
Following grant approval, completion of the JotForm Evaluation Questionnaire is mandatory. Link will be provided.
$200 maximum per fisc al year, per household
The Basic Needs Grant is not a long-term solution to emergency financial distress. The grant is intended to provide temporary financial relief while obtaining more sustainable solutions from other supports and/or programs, which may or may not include Support Our Troops Program.
An approval of this grant from the local Chaplain is an informal referral to the local SISIP Financial Counsellor.
